I have a huge apology to make for not updating the website.  It has been almost two months and I am very sorry for the long delay.  Gage has been doing so well that I have been afraid that I would jinx his good health if I posted.  I know it's a lame excuse but it's true.

Treatment has been going as well as expected.  The days are long and the week is longer but Gage and Troy persevere and make it through.  During Gage's last course of treatment Troy developed a respiratory infection and I had to take Gage to clinic for three days.  I have a new respect for what they have to endure during their hospital visits.

I want to take this opportunity to thank the West GA Bandits for the Fundraiser Tournament they put on as a benefit for Gage.  I was amazed at how our baseball family came together to support Gage during this difficult time in his life.  They raised a lot of money and brought awareness to Gage's rare disease.  Your giving ways will reap great benefits for you and your community.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

I want to also thank Bandits Baseball for the BBQ Dinner and Silent Auction they held in Gage's honor.  The community came together during our time of need and raised close to $4,600.  I could not believe this!!!  The Bandits will never know what they mean to our family and how much we appreciate all the time and hard work they put in to make this benefit a great success.  This is so helpful with the mounting medical bills and Troy's absence from work.  May God bless each and every one of you!

Gage will have treatment next week.  We ask for your continued prayers.  The Lord has been so good to him.  We feel so fortunate and blessed to have him as healthy as he is while taking these aggressive chemotherapy treatments.

I promise to not keep you in the dark so long.  I hope to update at the end of next week.  At which time we should know how the disease is reacting to the treatment and how long the treatments will continue.  Pray for good news!!!

Have a blessed week!

8/28/2010 - Gage finishes his first week of Chemo

Gage came home today after spending Friday night at the hospital.  He has finished his first 5 day treatment of Chemo and will be resting for the next 14 days.  Thank you to everyone who has donated so far.  You are huge help !!

9/5/2010 - Gage finishes week two of Chemo

Gage went to the oncologist on Thursday to have his blood work done.  All the test came back normal, however, his platelet count is on the low side of normal.  If at any time his platelet count becomes too low, he will receive a transfusion.  We also received the results from his latest Bone Scan and was discouraged to hear that Gage has several "hot" lesions/tumors on his spine, pelvis and left femur.  This could extend his treatment an additional six months.

He suffered from some pretty severe headaches at the first of the week, but we got those under control with medication.  Gage was able to go to school three days this week:-)  I am so thankful because I feel like it is so important for him socially as well as academically.  We consider each day with Gage a miracle.  Thank you so much for your kind words, thoughts, prayers, and donations.  Continue to follow Gage throughout his journey.  We appreciate each and every one of our supporters.  We couldn't do this without you!!!

September 16, 2010 - Half way through week 4!!!

Gage suffered from a severe adverse reaction to his antibiotic this weekend.  He woke up Saturday looking like an alien.  After several doses of Benadryl and a round of golf, he felt much better.  Golf is something we have found that Gage enjoys and we don't have to worry about him contracting an infection or virus.

Gage is having treatment this week.  Monday was a rough day with him being at clinic for 5 hours.  He was extremely tired and frustrated by the time he made it home.

Tuesday didn't take as long.  However, the severe headaches started again.  Thank the Lord for pain medicine.  The pain pills do not make the headaches go away but they make them bearable.
